Annalena Tonelli was an Italian humanitarian who lived and worked in Kenya, Somalia and Somaliland for over 30 years. She single-handedly stopped the scourge of Tuberculosis for Somali nomads in this region. She stopped a human rights atrocity and operated a hospital in a war zone. She won UNHCR's Nansen Award in 2003 and was assassinated shortly after receiving this reward.
We created a short documentary called Legacy of a Nobody about her life for the UNHCR in 2013. We also partnered on a book with Rachel Pieh Jones about the life of Annalena called Stronger than Death in 2019.
